Current Recycling Possibilities

Todays scaled and economically feasible textile recycling possibilities are limited to mainly two processes, in which textiles and clothing that have reached the end of their current life cycle, are being downcycled. These processes have existed for years. The outputs of which supply the automotive industry and others with material to be processed into insulation material, industrial cleaning wipers and more. These downcycling processes enable the textile material to stay in use for a further life cycle in another function. Highly trained employees at TEXAID sort the textiles and clothing by material. Absorbent textiles and clothing are cut to size at TEXAIDs cleaning wiper production in its Hungarian facility. Non-absorbent textiles and clothing are shredded and processed into e.g. insulation material by third parties within the vast network of TEXAID.
